Best Beach Destinations in Marinduque
Source: outoftownblog
Aside from being home to the Roman centurions-dressed Moriones and
the Moriones Festival, Marinduque is a coastal province that is home to
plentiful beaches and sparkling waters. Not yet sure where to go this
year?, then don’t even think twice to visit Marinduque. Here’s the best
beach destinations in Marinduque:
1. Poctoy Beach
Poctoy Beach is a white-sanded beach abundant with coconut trees,
rock formations, sparkling blue waves, and peace! For a small entrance
fee (Php 20 for entrance fee and Php 10 for environmental fee as
mandated by the local government that maintains the beach), you can
swim, stroll, and sunbathe to your heart’s content like there’s no
tomorrow. Unlike its other white-sand counterparts, Poctoy Beach is
slightly underdeveloped and is yet to be reached by the hands of
urbanization. With that said, if you want to stay the night in this
white-sand paradise, don’t expect to see any five-star hotels nearby.
You can, instead, rent small transient houses and live closer to nature.
Poctoy
Beach is located in Torrijos, Marinduque. To get to Torrijos from
Manila, you may ride any bus line that travels from Metro Manila to
Lucena. In the harbor, get to the ferry to
Santa Cruz, Marinduque. Ferry transportation lasts for 3 hours at ideal
weather and tidal conditions. Once in Santa Cruz, ride any PUV from
Santa Cruz to Torrijos. Keep an eye out for Damian Reyes Road, as this
directly leads to Torrijos.
2. Palad Sandbar
If you’re looking for a beach with shallower waters because you can’t
swim or because you’re bringing children along, you should drop by and
say hi to Palad Sandbar. This long stretch of sand is ideal for SCUBA
diving… for your feet! During low tide, you can stroll along the sandbar
and look like you’re walking on water from afar. Palad Sandbar is also
not too modernized, so if you want to stay overnight, you may rent a
simple cottage (for Php 500) overnight or haggle with the local
small-time resort owners. There are countless things to do in this
sandbar regardless if the tides are low or high. Just be creative, and
you’ll have lots of fun before you know it.
Palad Sandbar is located in Maniwaya Island. Maniwaya Island is
accessible via a 30-minute boat ride from Santa Cruz. You may book a
boat ride immediately as you get to the port but you may also contact
your preferred resort ahead of time. Most resorts have a service boat
that directly transports passengers from Santa Cruz to the island
resort.

3. Mongpong Island
Looking for a more exciting adventure this summer? Then travel to the
farthest island from mainland Marinduque, Mongpong Island. Like
Maniwaya Island from #2, Mongpong Island (sometimes called Mompong
Island by the locals) is only accessible via at least an hour’s worth of
boat ride. With abundantly scattered coconut trees and banana plants,
untouched colossal rock formations, and an unobstructed view of where
the sea meets the sky, Mongpong Island is the best place for anyone who
wants to pretend to be a castaway. Stroll away from the shores and find a
nice, quiet spot to sunbathe, read a book, or simply to pass the time.
Mongpong Island is approximately 19 kilometers from Bayubod Port in
Santa Cruz. The island is accessible via boat and may take at least an
hour depending on weather and tidal conditions.
4. Aroma Beach
Aroma Beach is the gateway to paradise of sun lovers and castaways
from the city. The beach is so unnoticed and underdeveloped that there
are more trees than the number of nearby buildings. Of course, having no
nearby buildings means you should bring your own food and whatnot—but
is that a problem? At least you can camp and start a bonfire at night!
Aroma Beach is located in Gasan. To get to Gasan, you may take the
route as suggested in #1. Alternatively, however, you may ride a ferry
set to Mogpog, Marinduque, instead of Santa Cruz, for a shorter route to
Gasan.
5. Maniwaya Island
Maniwaya Island, alternatively spelled as Maniuaya Island, is a
famous tourist destination in Marinduque. It is probably the most
developed beach in all of the beaches mentioned in this list article,
but that doesn’t mean that it’s not a paradise. With its large area and
abundant tides, there’s no shortage of fun and relaxation here. You may
choose to book a room in the nearby fancy resorts or you may choose to
live closer to the seas by renting the smaller cottages near the shores.
Stroll away from the crowds a bit and you can have your own private
paradise in Maniwaya Island.
Maniwaya Island, as mentioned above, is accessible via a 30-minute boat ride from Santa Cruz.
6. Ulong Beach
Ulong Beach is a humble beach abundant with vegetation, and towering
coconut trees. The shorelines faces westward towards Mindoro and
Batangas, and can become crowded during peak seasons. With that aside,
however, there are a lot of activities to do here. You may rent one of
the boats and set off to an adventure in the middle of the sea, perhaps?
Ulong Beach is located in Mogpog. Mogpog is directly accessible if you take a ferry traveling from Lucena to here.
7. Amoingon Beach
If you like gazing at corals and colorful schools of fish rather than
swimming and grilling, then you shouldn’t miss Amoingon Beach in
Marinduque. Its waters are so teeming with marine life that many would
call it the snorkeling capital of Marinduque. Still, if you’re not a fan
of marine life or anything like that, you can still have fun above the
clear shallow waters of Amoingon Beach. Get some fresh air and sunshine
outdoors, or rent the nearest transient house and inhale the smell of
the sea every morning while jogging.
Amoingon Beach is located in Boac, mainland Marinduque and is
accessible from either Santa Cruz of Mogpog via buses or longer jeepney
rides.
